Paws to Love
Pet Adoption Platform
Paws to Love is a Rescue Animal Shelter dedicated to pairing pets with forever homes. Paws to Love was established in 2020 and operates along the East Coast. Our goal is to give individuals and animals a chance to find each other.

Overview
Individuals and families must be able to access information and instructions to find a pet to provide a forever home. Making an effective transition to finding a new pet is vital for those searching to connect to their new addition.

Research
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps, and journey maps to clearly what users do, see, think, and feel while engaging on the website. The user group’s initial research revealed limitations for users. Other user problems include challenges to obtain information about specific pets. To relieve frustration or confusion, I needed to develop ways the user can feel more at ease and excited about potential new pets. The development was thoughtfulness to ensure the user was relaxed and enjoyed the tailored design.
Journey Map
Design
The design was created as responsive so users could search from the comfort of their cell phones and computers.
I developed wireframes, mockups, lo and high-fidelity prototypes was based on user needs and feedback.
Designs were tweaked after two rounds of testing. Feedback discovered included challenges initially narrowing down the types of pets and quickly being able to view a specific pet. I applied this feedback by adding the ability to click on each individual pet to view their information specifically.

Accessibility Considerations
Cleaner, simple, easier identifiable imagery to better understand designs. Design decisions including adding larger and bolder text options.
Icons for clearer navigation. I felt adding clickable images would aid in simplicity and ease throughout the process.
What I learned
Through Paws to Love design and implementation, I learned through mistakes that there is always room for improvement. For example, upon further revisions, adding a favorites folder to the user’s profile while enable them to pick up where they leave off. Also, considering status update on each pet helps keep the user updated on a pet’s most current information. This insight gained makes me excited to keep helping users’ experience evolve from good to great.
